Year 11 students experimented on the rate of reaction of magnesium and hydrochloric acid

The Year 11 students conducted an experiment to measure the rate of reaction of magnesium and hydrochloric acid. The volume of gas produced was measured using an inverted, submerged measuring cylinder full of water.

The gas filled the measuring cylinder and the volume was recorded at 10 second intervals. Next lesson the students will be drawing a graph of their results to see how the rate of reaction changes over time.
