European Culture Day at Bloomsbury

Today at Bloomsbury International School Hat Yai we had a European Culture Day.

Primary and Secondary section split into their houses to take part in special activities run by our teachers.

Primary were able to enjoy traditional school games of tennis and bowls on the field with Mr Macleod. In the cooking room they baked scones with Miss Williams. There were 2 quizzes for the houses to work as a team to win. Miss Baxter had a music competition where the students had to guess what country the song was from and Miss Reid had a European flag quiz where the students had to place the right flag on the countries of Europe. The students were also able to learn a bit of French with Miss Evans and painted beautiful watercolour paintings in the style of Monet with Mr Clare.

Secondary had a different set of activities to enjoy. Mika and Olivia Wolf ran a Polish lesson with Mr Strubelt where they taught the students how to say the Polish alphabet and the numbers. We also had Mrs Wolf visit our school today to teach our students traditional Polish dancing. Mr Gill ran a group quiz on the periodic table as well as Mr Perkins holding a European food tasting contest, where students got to taste lots of treats from across Europe and had to guess which country they were from. Mr Knight was helping students create German Propaganda Posters in the style of the Nazi regime. Mr Mullin showed students performances by the German play write Brecht.

Thank you to Mr Simpson for organising today’s activities and to all the teachers who ran them. Also a special thank you to Mrs Wolf, Mika and Olivia Wolf for their special contribution to the day.
