Teacher Training Event at Bloomsbury

Bloomsbury International School Hatyai was pleased to host teachers from Saengthong Vittaya, Tawirat, Suwanwong and Walaipon Kindergarten schools at a training event held in the morning of 14th March 2018.

The training event was opened with a welcome and introductory speech delivered by Dr Pimmas Rangsansarid, a member of and adviser to Bloomsbury’s school board. Dr Pimmas kindly familiarised those who attended with some helpful information about the school’s background, status and profile and welcomed them to its precincts on behalf of the board.

Two presentations were delivered to trainees: the first concerning the status and role of English as an international language (given by Mr Andrew Elliott, the Principal) and the second about active lessons (given by Mr Graeme Simpson, the Vice Principal).

Trainees were also invited to participate in a tour of the school (given by Mr Michael Newlands, Year 10 student) and to have luncheon in the Bloomsbury tearoom. Upon the event’s conclusion, they were presented with certificates of attendance by Khun Thaworn Senneam, the school’s Executive Adviser; Khun Thaworn also provided them with helpful advice about the significance of English teaching within the context of development.

Trainees were asked to evaluate the event’s usefulness via anonymous questionnaires with a scoring system with grades ranging from 5 (= ‘excellent’) to 0. The results were as follows:

Staff friendliness: 5 (out of a total of 5);
Quality of presentations: 4.6 (out of a total of 5);
Benefit to participants as professionals: 4.7 (out of a total of 5);
Tour of school: 4.9 (out of a total of 5).

The school is delighted to receive such positive feedback from trainees and looks forward to welcoming future participants at similar events in the future.
