Our Programme
Our Careers & Guidance programme is designed to grow with each student, offering structured, age-appropriate support that helps them explore opportunities, make informed choices, and successfully transition to life beyond school.
Years 7–8: Awareness and Exploration
In Years 7 and 8, students are introduced to the world of work and future pathways through age-appropriate activities and discussions. They explore a wide range of careers, develop an understanding of their strengths and interests, and begin to recognise the link between learning and future opportunities. This early exposure helps to build curiosity, confidence, and positive attitudes towards learning and ambition.
Year 9: Options and Pathways
In Year 9, students receive structured guidance to support informed subject choices. Through assemblies, subject information, teacher guidance, and digital resources, students explore how different pathways connect to future careers and further study. This ensures that option decisions are well-informed, realistic, and aligned with individual strengths and aspirations.
Years 10–11: Post 16 Planning
During Years 10 and 11, students develop a clear understanding of post-16 options and progression routes. They are supported to research courses, institutions, and entry requirements, while continuing to build academic and personal skills. Targeted guidance helps students to make confident decisions about their future.
Year 12: Research and Preparation
In Year 12, students focus on exploring post-18 opportunities in depth. They research universities, courses, placements, and career pathways using digital platforms and professional guidance. Students develop key application skills, including personal statement drafting, CV writing, and interview preparation, ensuring they are well prepared for competitive progression routes.
Year 13: Applications and Transition
In Year 13, students receive intensive support with applications and transition planning. This includes guidance on university, employment, and gap year applications, interview preparation, and decision-making. Students are supported to manage deadlines, evaluate offers, and prepare for independent living and study, enabling a confident and successful transition beyond school.
