Bloomsbury Brings Learning to Life During STEAM Week

Oct 22, 2026

Bloomsbury International School Hatyai’s STEAM Week began on Monday with a play in assembly by Year 11 exploring the development of technology and how innovation has changed the world. This was followed by an exciting rocket challenge for Years 7, 8 and 9. Students designed, built, tested and launched their own rockets, applying Newton’s Third Law of Motion alongside practical engineering skills, teamwork and problem-solving.

On Wednesday, Years 10, 11 and 12 took on a mathematical challenge, constructing three-dimensional polyhedrons and investigating Euler’s Law to discover the mathematical relationship between faces, edges and vertices. Thursday saw Years 4, 5 and 6 tackling the challenge of measuring time without using a conventional clock. Students designed and tested their own timing devices using water clocks, sinking boats or pendulums, aiming to measure intervals of 30, 60 or 90 seconds. The activity encouraged creative thinking, careful observation, testing and refinement.

Throughout the week, students have been encouraged to think creatively, work collaboratively and apply classroom learning to practical challenges, bringing Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics to life.
