Today, Bloomsbury students, parents, and staff celebrated Songkran, for many the most significant holiday of the year. Songkran is a time to celebrate fresh starts and the beginning of the Thai year. Students enjoyed the Thai games and especially the dunk tank and bouncy castle. Thanks to the Parents’ Association for their support with these and the amazing food stand. All classes performed Thai dances and participated in ritual pouring water into the hands of all the teachers to bless them, led by a visiting monk. The children also participated in a competition to construct sand pagodas in both traditional and contemporary styles.
The most fun part was the water play when everyone had so much fun! We allowed water pistols for the first time, and it was a good decision!
On this happy and fortunate day at Bloomsbury, the sun shone, and everyone had a great time!
